NEW YORK, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The New York Botanical Garden is rolling into the holiday season with its annual holiday train show, which features building replicas in Lower Manhattan - the birthplace of New York City.

At the exhibition, visitors will be able to see enchanting model trains zipping through a display of more than 175 New York landmarks, each re-created with bark, leaves, and other natural materials, in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.

Replicas debuting this year include the Battery Maritime Building, the Woolworth Building, One World Trade Center, the Oculus, and the Terminal Warehouse. The new replicas will join previous replicas of Lower Manhattan buildings such as the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis Island Immigration Station to be included in the same section.

One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere and the sixth-tallest building in the world. The nearby Oculus, the centerpieces of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, opened in March 2016. It connects 11 lines of New York city's subway system, New Jersey's PATH rail system, and the Battery Park City Ferry Terminal. Its contemporary design featuring interlocking white steel ribs is reimagined with natural materials by the show's botanical architects.

All five boroughs of New York city are represented at the exhibition in different sections such as Midtown Manhattan and the Museum Mile.

More than 25 G-scale model trains, trolleys, and ferries will hum along nearly a half-mile of track past the iconic sites this year.

"Each year we reconfigure our track a little bit differently. We want to make sure that no matter where you are in the show, you can admire the trains. Sometimes they might be overhead on the bridges, sometimes they might be at eye level, sometimes they might be down below. That way, whether you are young or older or very tall or very small, there's a train that you can see kind of right at your level," said Joanna Groarke, director of public Engagement and library exhibitions curator at the botanical garden.

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the botanical garden's holiday train show. Aside from trains and airplanes, boats are also featured in the show this time. Two replicas of vintage ferry boats from early 1990s are included in the exhibition.

The holiday train show has already started and will be running through Jan. 21, 2019.
