NANJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- China's highest-ranked female shuttler Chen Yufei will take on compatriot Chen Xiaoxin in the third round of the BWF World Championship. The two beat Cheung Ngan Yi of Hong Kong, China, and Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska Tunjung respectively in the second round on Wednesday.

Chen Yufei was defeated by Cheung Ngan Yi in their last encounter at the Indonesia Open in 2017 but this time Chen was able to recover, claiming a 21-17, 22-10 victory in 44 minutes.

The first game saw fine competition between the two players. The score seesawed until Chen won five of the six points after the scores were level at 16-all to earn herself a one game advantage.

In the second game, Cheung was 17-10 ahead and it seemed that she would extend Chen to a third game when the world no.5 won six consecutive points and narrowed the score. The two exchanged the lead in the following points, but Chen clinched two consecutive points after Cheung tied the game 20-20 and grabbed the victory.

"I think I'm better prepared today, mentally and technically, and this makes me more confident," Chen said afterwards.

Young talent Chen Xiaoxin clinched a riveting 21-19, 21-14 win over no. 16 seed Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. The 20-year-old bounced back from 10-5 down in the first game and dominated the second to move into the next round.

Looking into their future encounter, Chen Yufei enjoys a 2-1 head-to-head advantage against world no. 32 Chen Xiaoyin even though she lost in straight sets in their last match at the 2017 Swiss Open.
