GAZA, July 6 (Xinhua) -- A top Hamas leader said on Friday that his movement strongly opposes the peace plan, called the Deal of the Century, that U.S. President Donald Trump intends to declare soon.

"In our dictionary, there is nothing called Deal of the Century or even two centuries; we don't know a land that replaces another land. There is East Jerusalem and West Jerusalem," said Mahmoud Zahar.

Zahar was speaking to dozens of Palestinians who were rallying and demonstrating on Friday afternoon east of the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, close to the border with Israel, where clashes broke out with Israeli soldiers stationed there.

"We will not accept the deal of the century and we will not allow it being implemented," Zahar said, adding that "this deal is a trivial deal, where our legitimate right is irrefutable and we will never give it up."

Zahar said Hamas sends a clear message to every Israeli settle that they "have no homeland here and leave before this land eats you."

On Friday, clashes broke out between hundreds of demonstrators and Israeli soldiers in the eastern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel, on the 15th Friday of rallies and protests that started on March 30.

Ashraf al-Qedra, the health ministry spokesperson in Gaza, told reporters that at least 86 demonstrators, including journalists and paramedics, were injured.

Israeli and local Palestinian media reported that activists from Gaza released around 100 flaming kites and balloons from the eastern Gaza Strip into southern Israel, causing large fires to several agricultural fields in the area. No injuries were reported.

Al-Qedra said Israeli forces have killed at least 136 Palestinians, and injured 14,000 others since March 30.

Around half of the injured were shot by live ammunition, and many of them are still in critical condition, he added.
