BAGHDAD, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans met here on Sunday, discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly regarding military and intelligence cooperation in combating terrorism, said a statement by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
The two sides also reviewed the latest security developments in the region, stressing the need to prevent terrorism from exploiting the current situation in Syria.
Hussein outlined the Iraqi vision regarding the current developments in Syria from the political and security aspects, stressing the need for continued coordination between Iraq and the Netherlands, the statement said.
The two sides also highlighted the importance of the active role of the international community in supporting Syria and its people, it added. ■
