JAKARTA, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian security authority would tighten security during the forthcoming polls in provinces across the nation on Wednesday after foiling militants' plot to stage attacks during the events.

Over 270,000 personnel of police and armed forces would be dispatched to guard thousands of polling stations, top police and military officers said on Tuesday.

Indonesian Military Commander Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto revealed on Tuesday that the military would deploy a total of 99,000 of personnel to secure the elections in the provincial level while another 8,000 of personnel will be deployed at headquarters.

National police spokesman Brigadier General Rikwanto said that the police would send a total of 171,000 of personnel to polling stations along with the soldiers as they keep a close eye on the movement of militants.

"We jointly support to maintain this election to be safe and smooth," said Rikwanto.

Folks are to flock on polling stations on Wednesday to cast their votes to pick up governors, majors, and head of districts in all 34 provinces in the archipelagic country.
