KHARTOUM, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Khartoum airport on Thursday announced suspension of air flights due to a dust storm which has been hitting the Sudanese capital Khartoum since early Thursday morning.

"It has been decided to suspend the air flights until the dust storm clears," said Mohammed Al-Mahdi Abdoun, Khartoum airport spokesman, in a statement.

He said two flights, one coming from Cairo and a domestic one, have been redirected to other airports, pointing out that two flights of Ethiopian airlines and Flydubai have been delayed until the dust storm clears.

A heavy dust storm has hit the Sudanese capital and states in northern and western Sudan since early Thursday, which crippled the traffic due to lack of visibility.

The Sudanese Meteorological Authority expected the storm to continue and affect the weather conditions during Thursday and Friday, noting that the intensity of the dust would ease on Saturday in all parts of the country.

It said in a statement that there were medium clouds in Sinnar, Blue Nile and White Nile States in central Sudan that may result in light rain falling at those areas.
